A Crush on Gold.

It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving, and nearly all the United States citizens are posting Thanksgiving pictures and pictures of their Christmas trees
and talking about the Cyber Monday sales, and well,
here at the little ol’ cottage we’re just busy catching up on some sleep. :)

We had a special holiday weekend, hopefully with a few pictures to come, and enjoyed family time to the gills with my husband’s family and then with some cousins from my family stopping by!
It was lovely, and today we are just trying to recuperate from the good times. :)

So until I get the pictures edited from the weekend, here are a few of my latest crush
– the color GOLD.

If you know me, you know that I love little details.
I love to see God in the little things of life,
and celebrate His beauty and character in those things!

Here is just one more little thing that I’m learning to love. :)

I know, I know ~ until this fall I thought gold was such an ’80’s color.
And that it was OUT. Out with the big poofy hair and big puffed sleeves.
… Until this fall. And suddenly, I’m crushing.

Here are a few little ways that I’ve learned to love gold.
And perhaps, just perhaps, some of you will too. :)

… gold glitter belt.

It gives a fun little sparkle, just a touch of fun and a small pop of color.

These have been greatly enjoyed,
but this week, they will be exchanged for Christmas things.

These spray-painted magnolia leaves would also be pretty at Christmas.

As a DIY-er, paint is a general favorite around here. :)
One of these is a gold, and one is a glitter gold.
I used these for anything from leaves to pumpkins to…

… gold shoes!

I bought neutral-colored flats at Goodwill, and painted them with one coat of gold, and then a top coat of glitter gold. I love how they turned out, and now wear them all. the. time!

… phone covers.

This is my sister’s phone, and I just love her phone cover! I’ve been looking around and found a few similar here and here, but haven’t bought one yet. Very soon. :)

… nail polish.

My other sister got me hooked on gold nail polish.
It’s surprisingly very neutral, but still just the right pop of pretty and sparkle.

… gold paint pens.

These are found at Walmart, Joann Fabrics, Michaels, or A.C. Moore in the craft department, and they are so pretty for a little packaging touch, for name tags, envelopes,
and just all kinds of creative things. :)

And, as a believer in Jesus Christ,
one day I will be walking on streets of gold with my Savior and other people I love!
How exciting and wonderful will that be?!

Happy Monday, you all!
What is YOUR seasonal crush? :)

  1. I just found your blog & subscribed yesterday. I really just fell in love with your entire site. Your faith & love for Jesus was the most inspirational of all. The way you describe what you want your home to be is word for word what has been on my heart these past couple of years and after a couple of rough ones, I finally decided that, with Christ, this was the year that I was going to start turning my home into a haven. SO thank you. Thank you for your testimony & for putting it all out there for us to see.

Now to the fun part, I have been crushing on all metallic this fall/winter. Every kind. Silver, gold, pewter, copper, just plain old metals. That’s my seasonal crush! I love them individually but mixing them has me swooning this year.

    1. Thank you so much for visiting, and your sweet comment! It is not all perfection here either, but I love how the Lord knows the desires of our hearts and enables us to move toward Him, and in blessing our families… Many days it feels like it’s in my weakness that He works, not my strength! And cheers as you create that lovely haven! xo

  2. i can definitely indentify with what you mean by thinking gold was such an 80’s color…. and yep, i have crushed for gold this fall too. no, it’s like i fell into gold glitter myself! i used to be such a silver freak that i actually wondered (believe it or not) if the streets in heaven made of gold would even be that awesome. now i want heaven to be nothing but gold! imagine! the gold in heaven has got to be even more beautiful then the gold i’m loving here on earth :) i want to kick out all the silver and only use gold. i am with Sofia Grace and Rosie in that their favorite color is “glitter” in the most perfect english accent. i love your blog.

    1. I was laughing as I read your comment, because I used feel the same way about gold, and wonder the same thing about Heaven’s streets of gold! :) And I absolutely adore the English accent. From now on I will say ‘gold glitter’ in that very particular way.

  3. I have slowly fallen in love with gold too! There is actually still gold glitter lingering all over EVERYTHING in my house from place cards the girls and I made a couple weeks ago. Our house is very sparkly. ;)
I too love your house! and your clothes! you are adorable Clarita!
Love coming over to your blog. :) Can’t wait to see pictures of your Thanksgiving.

    Happy Tuesday to you.

  4. i am ADORING gold as well. such a great christmas color too. I love what you did with the shoes! ever clever.

  5. i think that things like gold being back ‘in’ are a sign of my age. don’t they say that trends cycle back around every 20-30 years? but! then, somethings, i think will always have class enough to stay in….things like gold. =) i love all these little details you’ve featured here. can’t wait to see what you do with your Christmas decorations and gold.
    happy Tuesday!

    1. That’s exactly right – gold isn’t back because of your age but because it’s ALWAYS classy. :) And I just started on Christmas décor, so we’ll see how gold gets sprinkled in. Now if only I could convince my husband about my new crush… :)

  6. a fellow gold crusher over here. i like the pen you picked i will have to try that one. i have the gold permenant marker brand ones and have been putting them on everything: my c-mas cards, mugs, gift wrap, writing letters etc. i loved all your pictures! great inspirations……………..

  7. I love this because we like the same things and some of the pictures bring back such sweet memories of that week at your house and thanks for sharing the nail polish and that coffee steam is profoundly beautiful and I can’t wait for you to get your [very belated] birthday gift. :)

  8. For some reason I have not been able to leave comments on your posts lately. Oh well- just wanted to say hi and, again, your pictures are so lovely and always inspire me to do something beautiful!

  9. I never thought I would like gold, but this “new gold” is so subtle and incandescent. It’s like a neutral but fancy! I saw some lovely gold eyeshadow that I was tempted to try (does that sound weird or tacky?) I love the nail polish and your shoes!! Especially the way you paired them with that floaty polka dot skirt. Your posts make me smile a happy smile {big sigh}.

    1. Yes, gold IS kind of like the new neutral ~ so true! I went out shopping today and saw it everywhere! I hadn’t realized it was so popular. And gold eyeshadow sounds so pretty! It would not be tacky on you at ALL. :) xoxo

  10. I still think that 1990 is about 10 years ago. it’s startling when I realize how long it’s actually been since cool big hair and awesome puffy sleeves. ;) I loved every word here… so much so that I can’t stand it that I can’t see the pics to go with them! oh dear. not sure why that happens. I know my heart would be pounding over your latest crush with you.

    1. I don’t know what happened, but I just found your comment! And I’m sorry my pictures are giving your trouble too, along with your comment trouble. I wish I knew what to do to fix it, or to tell you to please come visit me again because I love Cindy comments! :)

  11. Now i want to run out and buy me some gold nail polish! Lovely! But i think you could make any color fabulous with your touch of style! :-)

  12. Yes! So lovely! I’m crushing on dainty, thin gold RINGS on lots of fingers….I bought some cheap ones at Kohl’s and hope to get a real one for Christmas. I must get some of that paint. I have never heard of painting shoes? Will they stay nice? Gracie has been using lots of nail polish lately, I think I better get her some gold so we can share! xo

    1. I haven’t really heard of painting shoes either. :) I guess we’ll see how it holds up! So far, with lots of use, they’ve still stayed really nice! Over the long haul they will probably show scuff marks and maybe chip. But they’re Goodwill shoes, so what is there to lose? :)

  13. Yes! Love me some gold- crushing too. ;)) glitter polish is especially pretty over the plain gold~ ever heard the song “dancin shoes?” that’s what your gold shoes remind me of. very fun!

    xx.

  14. I’m loving gold right now, too. It’s all over my house. I have that belt from Target….In fact, last night, we had our annual Christmas concert at church and we wore black and gold. I got this gorgeous black and sequin gold skirt from Boden and wore that belt with a black velvet blazer. :) Happy Monday!
